Activities at Dreams Vista Cancun Resort Review

There is an endless list of activities at Dreams Vista Cancun Resort, so you can do a little or as much as you like!  Most of the activities are included in your stay, but there are a few that require a fee such as golf, fishing tours, and scuba diving.

dreams vista cancun activities

We were excited about the standup paddleboarding and kayaking which we did in Gili Lankanfushi and at Cocobay.

The standup paddleboarding was fun but a bit difficult due to the waves. Our friends went kayaking and they loved it.  Both activities are available at the sports center on the beach.

Additionally, they had ocean floats and trampolines.  Though apparently, these are for kids only, enforcement was kind of haphazard.  I climbed on it once with the kids and no one said anything.  The next day I was told to get off.

This is the only resort we’ve stayed at in Cancun that offered water sports as part of the all-inclusive!

They also had a zipline that was open certain hours!  The kids and I both did this and it was so fun!  I’ve not seen a zipline offered at similar resorts in Cancun before.

Review of Golfing at Dreams Vista Cancun Resort

They don’t call this resort a “golf resort” without good reason!  Dreams Vista is right next to The Puerto Cancun Golf Course, a 7,241-yard golf course surrounded by an ecological reserve.

You will experience stunning views of the Caribbean sea while enjoying this 18 hole, 72 par course!

We didn’t get a chance to golf here, because our skill level is pretty low.  But my friend’s husband, whose golfing skills far exceed ours, absolutely loved it!

He has golfed all around the world and said this course was pretty fun.

So if you love to golf, definitely book a tee time here.

Our Room Review at Dreams Vista Cancun Resort

When we stayed at Dreams Playa Mujeres, I didn’t see a need to upgrade our room to Preferred Club.

But this time we booked a Preferred Master Suite because it offered the best views, a huge balcony, and a plunge pool on the balcony.

I highly recommend getting the Preferred Club Suites as they are worth it at Dreams Vista.

Explorer’s Club for Kids Review

One of the reasons we love the Dreams brand of all-inclusive luxury family resorts is the Explorer Club for kids!

You can drop your little ones from 3 to 12 years of age at Explorer Club from 9 am to 10 pm.

The staff will feed and entertain your kids all day while you relax by the pool or enjoy a romantic dinner for two.

All of the kids in our group loved Explorer’s Club!

Explorer’s Club Activities include:

  • Splash park
  • Arts & crafts
  • Storytelling and music
  • Treasure hunts
  • Light snacks area for children
  • Kid’s stage/mini theatre
  • Climbing wall
  • Indoor game room
  • Board games and video games
  • Sandcastle contests
  • Movie zone

Unfortunately, on one of the days we stayed the kids club was not open as listed.  We asked the front desk and they said the kids club would open at 9:20 am so we went back and still no one was there.  By this time we just gave up.  This never happened at Dreams Playa Mujeres.

Of all the family-friendly all-inclusive resorts in Cancun, the Dreams brand of resorts has the best kids’ club hours and activities.

Core Zone Teen’s Club

If your kids are older there’s Core Zone, for teens 13 -17 years old to have some fun on their own.  Core Zone is open from 11 am to 7 pm.

Core Zone is kind of like a clubhouse for teens with lots of games and entertainment specifically for teens.

Core Zone Activities

  • Two surf pools
  • Social events including disco mixers
  • Snack bar with non-alcoholic drinks
  • Video games: Xbox 360® , Wii® and PlayStation®
  • Ping pong table
  • Pool table
  • Foosball table
  • Air hockey
  • Movie room

The Rooftop Pool at Dreams Vista Cancun Resort Review

The Rooftop Pool at Dreams Vista Cancun is an adults-only pool for Preferred Club guests.

dreams vista cancun roof top pool

This pool is amazing!!  You will have the best view of Cancun and all of the Caribbean water!  This pool alone was worth the price of upgrading to Preferred Club.

There’s also a cozy seating area right next to the pool where you can order drinks and food.

The Main Pool

The hotel has one main pool that’s super long and is basically the length of the hotel.

This is where we mostly hung out.  There’s also a hot tub with an ocean view right next to the pool.

The pool itself gets sun only in the morning and noonish hours.  After that, the sun is hidden behind the hotel itself in the afternoon.  This is great if you prefer shade, but it does get a bit chilly in the afternoon.

Kid’s Pool

The kid’s pool at Dreams Vista is on the side of the hotel that’s opposite the main pool.  There are a few water slides, splash zones, and pool.  There’s also a small wave pool which is only open certain hours.

The Beach at Dreams Vista Cancun

The beach at Dreams Vista is not super wavey and great for kids.

dreams vista cancun beach

The water is shallow, clear, and warm!  It’s the perfect spot for younger children.  Plus we loved all the shells you could find here.  And they have a bunch of water toys and trampolines set out for the kids to play on!

The Food at Dreams Vista Review

The food at Dreams Vista was so good!  I was kind of shocked at how delicious everything was because the food at Dreams Playa Mujeres was a disappointment.

World Cafe

World Cafe serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  We usually had breakfast here and it was great.  I would skip this place for lunch and dinner because there are much better choices at the resort.

La Plaza

La Plaza is the perfect place for lunch at Dreams Vista!  They served fresh sushi rolls, burgers, fries, and nachos.  The line does get pretty long here though because these are made to order.

Portofino is the Italian restaurant at Dreams Vista open only for dinner.  The food here is so good!  Definitely get a pizza or the steak here.  This may have been our favorite for dinner!  Men must wear long pants and close-toed shoes if sitting inside.

Mi Lucrecia

Mi Lucrecia is a Mexican restaurant and is open only for dinner.  We loved the crab tacos, mole chicken, steak, and guacamole here!  Definitely a hit with everyone.  Men must wear long pants and close-toed shoes if sitting inside.

Blue Water Grill

This is the higher-end restaurant at Dreams Vista but we found the food better at Portofino’s and Mi Lucrecia.

dreams vista cancun food review

The views are amazing though!  Definitely come here for drinks at the bar!

Coco Cafe

Coco Cafe was our go-to for ice creams and coffee every day.  The barista grinds espresso fresh for cappuccinos.  They have an excellent selection of ice creams, sorbets, pastries, and even sandwiches daily.

If you have an early tour come by here and pick up your breakfast to go!

Preferred Club Bar Review

The Preferred Club Bar has amazing drinks and a stunning view.  I highly recommend the espresso martini and the cucumber margarita!

Overall Impression of Dreams Vista Cancun

Dreams Vista Cancun has nicer rooms, better views, and better food compared to Dreams Playa Mujeres.  Also, the adults-only rooftop bar is such a nice touch.

But overall I think Dreams Playa Mujeres is better for younger children.  Dreams Vista is more like a Secrets with some Dreams amenities and would be great for families with older children.

Our experience was good but we liked Dreams Playa Mujeres more because the main pools were nicer, the kid’s pool was much better, and the resort itself was much larger.
