If there’s one thing I love its amazing ice cream on a hot day. And in Maryland, we have plenty of those hot days during summer! Honestly, I didn’t know we had so many creameries in the area until last year when I was looking for a sunflower field that bloomed after McKee Beshers.
What I found was Rocky Point Creamery which not only serves amazing ice cream made from the milk of their cows, but they also plant sunflowers annually. They make their ice cream fresh each week, and you can definitely taste it. There’s also usually 80 amazing flavors on offer. We tried strawberry last year and it is easily the best I’ve had!
Rocky Point Creamery Location
Rocky Point Creamery is about 1 hour from Washington DC at 4323 Tuscarora Rd, Tuscarora, MD 21790. It makes the perfect day trip because you get to enjoy their delicious fresh peach ice cream and Sunflowers if you go in August.
Rocky Point Creamery Sunflowers
Each year Rocky Point Creamery plants 2 acres of sunflowers that you can pick. The sunflowers are $1 each and you pay by an honor system via a box right outside the field. The proceeds from the sunflower sales go to St. Judes Hospital.
Rocky Point asks that you still donate if you are here just to take a few pictures. I hope you do because it’s so nice that they do this!
The Playground at Rocky Point
This creamery not only has 80 yummy flavors of ice cream, stunning sunflowers but also an awesome playground for the kids! My daughter absolutely loved it. It’s basically a tractor you can climb on with a tube slide they have attached.
