Washington DC Winter Maternity Photo Session Charis + Chuck

Washington DC – I met Charis on Facebook of all places.  She posted on a Facebook Group we were both in that she was looking for a maternity and newborn photographer in the Washington DC area.  I happened to be on Facebook that morning and replied with my portfolio.

After chatting on the phone for a bit and working out the details, and suggesting a few locations, we scheduled her maternity photo session in DC for January.

On a cold but gorgeous morning in DC I met Charis (in real life for the first time) and Chuck, along with their adorable dog at the Tidal Basin in DC.  Charis is one of the warmest people I have ever met. Beaming with a huge smile she glowed so radiantly! If there was anyone that epitomized the “pregnancy glow” it was definitely Charis!  I knew this was going to be one of my favorite maternity photo sessions in DC!

Now Charis and Chuck are a perfect match.  I mean they met while both working at Disney World of all places.  There’s no wonder their maternity session was just as magical even though it was dead of winter in Washington DC.  

One of the reasons I love morning sessions is how quiet everything is.  We started the maternity session around the Jefferson Memorial, catching some iconic DC sites in the background.  

I remember on the phone, Charis mentioned she didn’t want a bunch of statues of guys in her photos!  Being more of a romantic myself I definitely agreed and we focused on more of the stunning architecture DC has to offer as a backdrop for her maternity session.  

Not only was working with Charis and Chuck such a dream, but I met Charis’ Mom, Tia, and Abuelita.  Three generations of gorgeous strong women, with Charis adding the 4th generation with a baby girl on the way.  There’s nothing I love more than capturing these beautiful women together!
